Mistletoe Fights Colon Cancer?
According to a study by the University of Adelaide in Australia, the extract from mistletoe is extremely effective in FIGHTING COLON CANCER.
Researchers found that using mistletoe to treat cells infected with colon cancer was just as effective as chemotherapy . . . without the horrible side effects.
More research has to be done, but this is promising. And it should make you respect the power of the mistletoe even MORE this Christmas.
How Many Guys Out There Would Marry a Porn Star?
86% of men say they'd be willing to date a porn star . . . and 61% would MARRY ONE. That's three out of five guys who'd be willing to spend the rest of their life with a woman who has weird, deviant sex on camera.
The survey also found that 64% of people have tried positions or moves they've seen in a porno.
Nurses are the Most Honest Profession . . . And Car Salesmen Beat Out Congress as the Least Honest:
With the way Americans feel about Congress today, this has to feel like a win for them. In an annual Gallup poll asking Americans to rank different professions by their honesty and ethics, Congress DIDN'T come in last.
Nope, they came in SECOND-to-last.
CAR SALESMEN finished dead last. Only 8% of people say car salespeople have high or very high honesty standards. 10% of people said members of Congress have high or very high honesty standards.
Nurses were rated the most honest profession, at 85%. The rest of the top 10 most honest professions are: Pharmacists, doctors, engineers, dentists, police officers, college professors, members of clergy, psychiatrists, and chiropractors.
The bottom 10 are: Car salespeople, members of Congress, people in advertising, stockbrokers, HMO managers, senators, insurance salespeople, lawyers, state governors, and business executives.
People Who Work from Home Work Seven More Hours a Week Than People in Offices:
A study out of the University of Texas at Austin found that most telecommuters actually work MORE than the rest of their coworkers. About five to seven hours more per week.
Over the course of a year, that means you're working an extra 245 to 343 hours . . . or anywhere from 31 to 43 more total eight-hour work days. That's at least an extra MONTH of work, just for the right to work near your refrigerator.
The main reason for it is that regular office workers can generally stop working once they leave the office . . . telecommuters can't, because technically they're ALWAYS at the office.
A Man Tries to Shoot His Daughter's Boyfriend . . . But Accidentally Shoots His Daughter:
On Saturday, 49-year-old Dante White of Chicago got into an argument with his 25-year-old daughter's boyfriend. It's not clear what the fight was about, but it was BAD . . . because Dante ended up trying to SHOOT the boyfriend.
But, before he shot, his daughter stepped in between her dad and her boyfriend . . . and SHE ended up taking the bullet.
Fortunately, it only hit her in the arm and she's going to fully recover.
Dante was arrested for unauthorized use of a firearm by a felon. He has a previous drug conviction, and he could be facing additional charges.
A Man Tries to Rat Out His Own Mother's Drug Use To Avoid Vandalism Charges:
Over the weekend, police in Albuquerque, New Mexico went looking for 27-year-old Vaughn Godwin for selling meth. He didn't have any when they found him, but he HAD just vandalized and destroyed an apartment.
They were about to arrest him for vandalism, but he tried to get out of it . . . by RATTING OUT HIS OWN MOTHER.
He told the police his mom was selling marijuana out of her home, so they should let him go and arrest her.
But they arrested him anyway. We don't have any information about whether they went and arrested his mother too, but we wouldn't be shocked.
A 19-Year-Old is Busted for Bank Robbery and Car Theft When She Posts a YouTube Video Bragging About It:
Last week, 19-year-old Hannah Sabata of Stromsburg, Nebraska posted a YouTube video where she bragged about stealing a car and robbing a bank. She called it the, quote, "best day of her life."
Well . . . the police found the video. They connected Hannah to a Pontiac Grand Am that was stolen in York, Nebraska, and a bank robbery in Waco, Nebraska where she made off with $6,256.
And it was especially easy since Hannah was wearing the SAME CLOTHES in the YouTube video as she was when she robbed the bank. She was arrested, and all but $30 of the stolen money has been found.
For what it's worth, in her profile on the website deviantART, Hannah says she is married, pregnant, AND has HIV. She also says she can put both of her legs behind her head.
The Five Money Mistakes You Need to Avoid During the Holidays:
Going over-budget around the holidays is easy to do. So the most important thing is to actually SET a budget in the first place, and not just put everything on credit cards. Here are the five things you need to AVOID if you want to stay WITHIN that budget.
#1.) Overspending Just to Impress Someone. This one's really common with young adults, who feel like they have to prove to their parents that they're doing okay financially. But boyfriends and husbands tend to do it a lot too.
#2.) Buying Presents for Too Many People. Sometimes it feels like you have to give a gift to every co-worker, neighbor, and friend you have. But that's not REALLY expected, and it's definitely not necessary. Especially if you're on a budget.
#3.) Spending the Same Amount on Each of Your Kids. It might seem FAIR, but the fact is, you just don't have to spend as much to make a four-year-old happy as you do with a 12-year-old.
As long as you don't TELL them, young kids usually don't know the difference.
#4.) Forgetting to Factor the Little Things Into Your Budget. The obvious things you budget for are the presents, the plane tickets, and any other travel expenses you might have.
But a lot of people FORGET to factor in things like decorations, shipping costs, higher utility bills, and the money to cover any parties or get-togethers they're hosting.
#5.) Doing All Your Shopping at the Last Minute. It can put you over-budget because it doesn't give you enough time to pick out anything THOUGHTFUL. So you end up overspending to compensate.
Ideally, you should get all your shopping done by the middle of the month, so you won't have to pay extra shipping to make sure they get it on time.
