UPDATE 7/7 12:00PM

The Palestinian-American teen brutally beaten by Israeli forces after his cousin is burned alive in an apparent revenge killing is under house arrest in the Middle East.

This afternoon- his relatives in Tampa are pleading for his release.

Hassan Shibly with the Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations says the 15-year-old did not start a riot at a protest about his cousin's killing.

The US State Department demands an investigation.

=======================================

The American teen allegedly beaten by Israeli police in Jerusalem is being released from custody without charge.

A video shows two Israeli Border police holding down and repeatedly punching the masked teen before carrying him a way.  The boy has been identified as a 15-year-old from Tampa, Florida of Palestinian descent who was visiting relatives in East Jerusalem.  He is a cousin of the teen who was abducted and believed to have been killed by Jewish extremists.

The White House is "profoundly troubled" by the beating, which happened during rioting in Jerusalem.  State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki [[ sah-key ]] says the U.S. condemns any excessive use of force and calls on Israel to conduct a speedy, transparent and credible investigation.
