Miami-Dade Officials Reportedly Agree On New Jailhouse Plan To Reduce Inmate Population
Posted September 1st, 2014 @ 11:00am

A new plan out of Miami-Dade County could save hundreds of thousands in taxpayer dollars while also reducing the county's jail population.

The State Attorney's Office agreeing to a new proposal that allows non-violent crooks to opt for an ankle tracking monitor instead of posting bond.

The move could save more than a million bucks a year and reduce the jail population by 20-percent.

The move doesn't benefit all crooks. Defendants need to have a stable address with electricity in order to qualify.

Their bond must also not surpass $7,500.

The plan could go in effect over the next several weeks.
