Former Florida Gator and New England Patriot tight end Aaron Hernandez was formally indicted Thursday for the murder of his friend, who was killed less than a mile from Hernandez's home.
Hernandez is now officially charged with the murder of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd, who was allegedly shot five times execution-style June 17.
Hernandez was arrested June 26 and has been held without bail.
The indictment comes after prosecutors got a 30-day extension to outline their case to Hernandez's defense attorneys.
Several others have been charged in connection with the Lloyd murder and one of them has reportedly fingered Hernandez as the trigger man.
In addition, police are reportedly still investigating whether or not Hernandez had a role in another crime -- an unsolved drive-by shooting that left two men dead more than a year ago.
