Charlie Crist appears to feel confident he will be the Democratic nominee for governor -- already picking a running mate.
Crist's announcement that Miami businesswoman and party leader Annette Taddeo is his choice for lieutenant governor came early in the elections process.
Barry University political science professor Sean Foreman says the Colombian-American woman who's married to a Jewish doctor is clearly meant to attract voters, and Crist may be counting on an increase in female, Hispanic, and Jewish votes because of her.
But, Foreman says Crist's move is bold and presumptuous and could upset other Democrats already unhappy he won't debate opponent Nan Rich, a longtime, loyal Florida Democrat.
The primary election is set for August 26th.
